| Viewers' Comments On Randy Salerno - Part 6
Watching channel 2 is a part of my morning routine everyday. I enjoy the cohesiveness that the morning team shares. I especially enjoyed Randy, because you never knew what quick witted comment he was going to make. That's what stood out about him was his humor. Randy will be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences to his wife & children. Also to his many family, friends and colleagues at CBS2 as well as WGN TV. It was definitely a pleasure to watched him for the short time we had him......he has left us all much to soon. GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!!!! Still Shocked and Very Saddened, Veronica Burgess, Tinley Park, ILI don't think I ever saw Randy doing the news on TV but I did hear him on the radio. He was an occasional newscaster on The Garry Meier Radio Show that was on WCKG-FM 105.9 between 8 and 11 am for around six months in 2007.
E-mail? C ya ltr; it's a txt world 4 teenz
And teens instinctively gravitate to what is not part of their parents' world. "I text my dad sometimes, but my mom doesn't really understand how it works," says Emily Saunders, a sophomore at Atlanta's Marist School. She says she averages about 50 text messages every day between the time she gets out of school and bedtime, about six hours. She has a Gmail account through Google, "but I haven't used that in a year or so," she adds dismissively. She got the account mainly because an e-mail account was required to register for iTunes. There can even be a little element of rebellion in teens preferring technology that is not part of their parents' lives. "There's not as much of a generation gap today on some things between teens and their parents," says Iconoculture's Robinson, "but there's always going to be a element of 'This is mine and you can't possibly understand it.'" E-mail not as intense Young communicators also view Facebook and Myspace as being more interesting and intense than old-fashioned e-mail.
Twenty-five U.S. Military Officers Challenge Official Account of 9/11
I was a lifelong conservative Republican that voted for Bush/Cheney, twice. Curiosity about JFK’s death, after a late night TV re-run of Oliver Stone’s movie, got me started researching and digging for the truth about his assassins. "My research led me to a much more important and timely question: the mystery of what really did happen on 9/11. Everything that seemed real, turned out to be false. The US government and the news media, once again, were lying to the world about the real terrorists and the public murder of 2,972 innocents on 9/11. .
Serious slowdown predicted for U.S. economy
DAVOS, Switzerland, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Serious slowdown, though not recession, was predicted for the U.S. economy on Saturday as political and business leaders were ready to wrap up their annual gathering at the Swiss skiing resort of Davos. The World Economic Forum, which was kicked off here Wednesday, was clouded this year by mounting concern over the U.S. economic outlook in the aftermath of the sub-prime mortgage market crisis, with some economists even warning the U.S. economy is headed for a recession. "Whatever the answer is on a recession, what is clear is there will be a serious slowdown" in the United States, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, managing director of the International Monetary Fund(IMF), said at a panel discussion on the economic outlook this year, calling for a serious response.
Basics may be $1,400 more in Italy in '08
And unless the government steps in, the group Codacons says many families will "find themselves on the verge of bankruptcy" because of the increased spending for life's basics, the Italian news agency ANSA reported Monday. Codacons calculated the figure by adding roughly a $585 increase for food and beverages, and $470 for vehicle and heating fuels, ANSA said. "Given all these additional costs, it is clear that the government must intervene to help families balance their budgets," said Carlo Rienzi, Codacons chief officer. "Without adequate measures to reduce these costs as well as those for other goods and services, thousands of families risk bankruptcy in the coming year." Copyright 2007 by UPI .
Raging Cheryl Cole sends cheating husband Ashley packing
He wasn't worthy of Cheryl even before he took his pants off. Oh, and let's not forget Ashley is "not very big". I hope footie fans are making up some chants. Cheryl is in a league above every other WAG in existence and not just because she's independent and has her own career. A little bit of my soul will die if she takes the Posh/McLoughlin route of pretending she's the only person who hasn't heard the rumours and everything's fine. And I'm pretty sure she won't. Giving up on her marriage will probably be the hardest thing Cheryl's ever done. But once a cheater, always a cheater - she has to leave a man who obviously has no respect for her. It's the understatement of the century to say that it's Ashley's loss. And it's an out-and-out threat to say that I will kick him in the shin as hard as I can if I ever see him.

The only place that has "outstanding" wind resources in Marin County is in the Point Reyes National Seashore, a location where support for wind power could be an uphill climb. There are locations throughout the county, nevertheless, that could support "small wind turbines," a category that refers to machines less than 100 kilowatts in size, and which typically are 10 kilowatts or less. "Unless you are a geek, and want to tinker with your turbine two or three times a year, small wind is not too appealing of an option for the vast majority of people in Marin County," concluded Williard. Mark Pasternak of Devil's Gulch Ranch in Nicasio is the most bullish on local wind power. He purchased a 35-kilowatt V-15 wind turbine about two years ago. Like Stubbs, Pasternak first lived "off-the-grid" and relied upon a 2-kilowatt wind turbine between 1971 and 1982.
Plea bargain gets man 2 1/2 years in prison; down from a possible 40
FARMINGTON — A man initially facing more than 40 years of prison time on domestic violence charges was sentenced in district court this week to serve less than three years. Jose Silva, 34, initially had been charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree aggravated burglary, second-degree retaliation against a witness, fourth-degree aggravated stalking, and several misdemeanors including violating a restraining order, battery on a household member and possession of marijuana. The charges were filed in December 2006 when the victim reported Silva hit her in the face and threatened to attack their infant child if the victim did not drive him where he wanted to go. Those charges in October were reduced to just fourth-degree aggravated stalking and misdemeanor criminal damage to property.
